(March 10th)Time flies by way too fast when you have fun. Ten days was a decent amount of time but I wish I was there for longer.
I miss the very small home I got to stay in that was completely filled with quirky items and pictures upon pictures.(grey house) I miss the little neighbourhood that I got to explore and the tiny little car I got to drive.(on the left side of the road too!!). I especially miss getting to know and spending time with Hiroshi, Chiharu, and Haruki.
As we were leaving to catch a bus one of Hiroshi’s neighbours came home and I got to talk to her while walking to the bus stop. She was very sweet and said she was taking English lessons. Her teacher was from Australia and I wonder if she will end up with an Australian accent when speaking English.
Hiroshi’s whole family came with me to the highway express bus terminal. I said my final goodbyes and got on the bus. While other people were still getting on the bus they were all patiently waiting looking through the window and waving at me. We made silly faces back and fourth until I had to leave. I was very sad to leave but also excited for my next adventure.
The bus took around 4-5 hours to get to where I was going: Mount Fuji. We went around and through many mountains. I loved seeing all the little cities in the valleys surrounded by mountains. When I arrived it was only 6:30pm but very dark and rainy. To my luck my hostel was literally around the corner from the bus stop so I didn’t have to walk too far.
If you ever go to Mount Fuji definitely stay at a hostel called Guesthouse Murabito. It was the cutest little house that was renovated to be a hostel and it was run by a couple who have travelled so much.
Once I got settled in I had to go find some dinner. It was a bit of a hassle walking in the rain and it was dark but I ended up at a really nice Japanese restaurant. I took my shoes off at the front and got seated with an English menu. I was surprised that the waiter knew some English. I got some soba noodles and when I left I gave the lady some maple syrup candy which she appreciated.

Great way to see Japan – by highway bus! I’ve taken buses like that in Japan before but never during daylight hours. Nice scenery! I love the hostel in Mount Fuji too. Lots of people staying overnight?
Yeah it was a full room (6) my first night but then the second night there was 4 of us.
