(February 21st) On Thursday I went back to the university, got lunch with Simeng, and then actually went to an architecture lecture. Lloyd, Simeng, and Anna are architecture students, that’s why. It was pretty interesting to experience a lecture and also have a different perspective on school from when I taught in Zambia. Afterwards they had private group projects for 2 hours so I stayed at a little cafe for that time. It was a really nice cafe perfect for students and I actually made a friend in that time. He was a worker there and he came over with a long message written down. My favourite part is that he states ‘we are friends’ and at the end he says “can…is that alright?” We interacted a little but it was hard because his verbal english wasn’t good and my Chinese is non existent. He said he had to go back to work and after that I decided to write a message back on the paper in Chinese. It says something like ” sorry my Chinese is very bad/ I cheated and used the translator/ all I know in chinese is… Thank you, hello, how are you, 1,2,3,4,5″. After that I met up with all 3 of them and grabbed some dinner in their cafeteria, which was so good.
I have no videos or pictures but after dinner Simeng and I went to dance again. It has been an experience at dance and I got to meet some other students from dance too. That night Simeng and I went out with two other students after dance and we just got some drinks ( milk tea) and chatted away. It’s nice to find people that can speak English enough to get a conversation going and also to laugh at me showing off my chinese counting skills.
