Woke myself up nice and early to go on a little sunrise tour Momo planned for a bunch of us. It was mostly all girls and one guy from the hostel. We were all ready to go around 5:30 am and then we hopped in the back of a truck to ride to the lookout. Even the ride in the truck itself was so fun.
We arrived at the lookout spot and it was just beautiful. Also because it was so early it just felt so peaceful. Unfortunately due to the burning season in northern Thailand, there was quite a bit of haze in the air and we didn’t get a full sunrise affect. However it was still worth getting up at 5:30 for.

It was so quiet and peaceful. The group of us stayed there for a while and the sun did start to show through the haze, which made it look really cool. After the sun had risen a good amount we all headed out back to the truck. Momo wanted to take us to another place.

We got to the next place which I thought was a rooster farm. But it was actually a rooster temple that monks took care of. The roosters represent good fortune and wealth so they were everywhere roaming around.

Apparently having bee hives at your house is a sign of goodluck and this temple had two huge ones.
After visiting the temple we all headed back to the hostel. It was 7:30 am, which felt weird because I didn’t know what to do with my day this early. I was pretty hungry so decided to go walk around Pai and look for some local spots. I wanted to try a cafe someone recommended but when I got there, it wasn’t open yet. I was walking around streets I hadn’t explored yet, so I found it fun to search for something elsewhere. I ended up stumbling on this tiny little cart serving congee. It was also really cheap, less than a dollar, and had seating outside. It was the best congee I’ve had in my whole life. Such a simple experience, but it’s things like this that make me remember to love all the small things in life, whether I’m travelling or not.
The day was getting pretty hot, so I picked up a coffee from 7/11 and headed back to the hostel to relax… and have a nap.

Went out with the group of 4 girls for some sweets. Got a chai iced tea and bread pudding. Tried to go to 2 huts again but there was no sunset this time because of the haze.
