My last day in Chiang Mai! I took the day to relax and go to a cafe/restaurant that seemed like my type of place. It showed a beautiful area around the restaurant full of plants, it looked like a mystical garden.

I ended up getting the perfect spot even though the place was packed. I got a Thai iced tea and some type of spicy chicken dish. Both were delicious. I stayed awhile to relax, read, journal, etc.

After the cafe it was almost time to catch my bus to.. PAI! I had heard so much about Pai while travelling Vietnam and Thailand. People talked about the “Pai Hole” which was when people got stuck in Pai for longer than they thought. It sounded like a place I would like and I planned for a week or so there. The bus ride there was known to be absolutely horrible, especially if you get car sick easily. Thankfully I don’t. Pai is relatively close to Chiang Mai but because of the mountains the whole ride there is sharp turns and loops around the mountains.

A bunch of friends I met in Chiang Mai were also going to Pai, either that day or a day later. I went to the bus station with Christine and Holly, but we got put on separate buses. The bus took one stop for washrooms and all, and we ended up seeing eachother there for a bit.

At one point on the bus, another girl asked if the bus could stop since she wasn’t feeling well. He basically ignored her but gave her a throw up bag. I thought it was kind of rude but afterwards I realized there was no where safe to pull over for her since all the roads were zig zags and one lane. I felt bad for her because she ended up having to puke in the bag and then hold it for the rest of the ride.

Besides that, I arrived at Pai. I wanted a hostel that was more small to relax at. All my other friends booked another Revolution hostel (party hostel) but I found a place called Paifah Hostel. The reviews were all amazing and everyone kept mentioning how amazing the host was, Momo. It was only a 5 minute walk from the bus station to the place, and when I arrived I was welcomed with open arms. Momo took me in instantly and asked if I was hungry. He had just cooked some dinner for him and his coworkers and invited me to share a plate. It was more traditional spicy Thai food and I loved it.
