I always like to start my first day in a new city wandering. I think it’s the best way to get a vibe of the place. My hostel was in a really nice area and pretty close to old town. I ended up renting a bicycle for the day and took my time biking around. Once in old town, I decided to look for food before walking around. I ended up in this little market, with at least 40 different vendors set up to sell food. I couldn’t decide but just sat down at one that had people.🤣 I tried a dish that was just rice paper, fresh herbs, some veggies and fish sauce. 10/10

I fell in love with all the colourful flowers, the cute buildings, and the lanterns!

After exploring I knew I would be coming back to old town again. The previous places I was in were chilly and rainy, whereas Hoi An is in the 30’s and sunny. It’s also on the coast of Vietnam… which means beach time! I’ve been looking forward to having this type of weather, because I did technically leave Canada to get away from the winter.😅

The beach was a nice different pace from what I’ve been doing so far. Laying there with nothing to do felt lovely. I did head back to the hostel before it got dark, and also for food, but the scenery on the bike ride was just so perfect.

In the evening, I met two girls who were travelling from France. They invited me out to get some dinner with them. They said they’ve been going to the same Thai place the past few days because it’s so good and cheap. It did feel a little wrong to eat Thai food in Vietnam, but none the less it was really good.

We ended up walking back to the hostel and I bumped into a bunch of other girls at the bar in the hostel. One from America, some from the Netherlands and we all ended up having some beers and hanging out for the night together.
