(May 19th) I had yet another bus ride to get down to Greymouth. I didn’t have anything I wanted to do in Greymouth but I had to go there because that’s where the train runs from to get to Christchurch. The bus ride was a long one about 8 hours. When I was researching what to see while in New Zealand these pancake rocks popped up. They looked so cool but I didn’t have the time or money to go see them. Fortunately half way through the trip the bus stopped for about 45 minutes for a lunch break and actually let us out to go see the pancake rocks site.
Once I arrived in Greymouth, it was a short walk from the bus stop to my hostel. My hostel was so cute and was animal themed. The whole hostel was decorated with patterns and animals and then each dorm room had a different animal.
There wasn’t much to do around so I spent the night in and got dinner at a McDonald’s down the street. I was lucky enough to have a roommate who was really sweet and I had a little company. She was from germany and around my age and also travelling on her gap year.
