Once again I was on the move. Before I checked out of my hostel I was on a hunt for a postcard. It is my tradition to get a postcard from everywhere I visit. I walked down the street with the most shops and started searching. While I was walking I bumped into someone I recognized from my hostel and they recognized me as well. We ended up walking together for a bit and talking about what we were doing in our lives and in New Zealand specifically. They told me they came here to pursue music and they also gave me some advice on where to maybe find a postcard. All the shops I looked in had postcards for New Zealand but none just of Wellington. I ended up going into a bookstore and they just had a bunch of random postcards in a box for sale. It was funny because all the postcards weren’t of New Zealand but just of other places around the world. I ended up buying a little postcard that reminded me most of Wellington.
I had the ferry from Wellington to Picton to catch soon and ended up getting a taxi to take me to the boarding place. It was a huge ferry and took about 2 hours.
Once I arrived in Picton I ended up getting a driver to take me to my hostel, which saved me a long walk with my backpack in the dark. The place was very small and cute. It was called Sequoia which is such a different name and someone who was staying in the hostel had the same name. She told me and others that when she found this hostel she told herself that she had to stay there. The main reason I wanted to stay at this hostel was because it offered homemade soup and chocolate pudding every evening. The soup was amazing but the chocolate pudding was even better. By the end of the night I had made some new friends and all 8 of us played cards until it was time to go to bed.
