(May 3rd) Kuranda was a beautiful place. I only knew about it because my grandma recommended it and boy was it a great recommendation. It was a little town in a rainforest that took two gondola rides to get there. It was a very foggy and rainy morning but it made it that much more magical. I loved going through the clouds and seeing the wire disappear just a few meters in front of me.
Once we arrived it was amazing. Before touring too much I needed to find some food so I just started walking down the street. There were so many shops on one street, mostly restaurants, which was perfect. I ended up going shopping a bit too and then headed more into the town.
When I went into town, that was when I saw where all the markets were set up. It was a cute secluded town with such character and I loved just walking around.
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw a guy dancing at a falafel shop. I walked down enough little alleys and streets that I found the hidden spot where the falafel shop was. There were two girls that just ordered a falafel wrap and when I walked by, the guy that owned the shop offered a free tasting of a falafel. They were absolutely delicious even just by themselves. I ended up chatting with the guy and the two girls there, who invited me to sit with them. We really hit it off and ended up walking around the place the whole time together. Since I just ate I wasn’t too hungry but I told the owner I would definitely be back for one.
Me and the girls walked around the town a bit more just exploring. I ended up going back to the falafel shop and when I got there I saw the guy down the street just dancing to music with other people. He instantly remembered me when he saw me and came right away. Everything closed relatively early, it was only about 3 pm and he said he was suppose to be closed but stayed open just for me. It was so sweet of him. He made my falafel wrap while doing tricks and dancing, it was hilarious. He was the most down to earth person and just a fun guy to be around. He offered me free lemonade before he took it away, which was the most refreshing thing ever. The falafel wrap was jam packed with so much but I finished every last bite. It’s so weird to think that I might’ve not went there if it wasn’t for the recommendation I got from the man I met the previous day.
Near the end of the day the other girls and I decided to go mini putting. It was a pretty simple course but we all had a great time with a lot of good laughs. Soon after I had to leave and took a gondola ride back.
