(March 13th) My first day exploring around Kyoto started with the Fushimi Inari Shrine. It was a big tourist attraction but I thought it was worth it even with the crowds. I have the tendancy to go out of the crowd whenever possible to find better quirky things. I found thousands of cranes hung around a shrine and also got to make some friends.

Before I left for the day I got an amazing breakfast from my hostel which apparently was included in my room, so that was a plus.

The whole shrine was all up Inari mountain but I didn’t go to the top. My phone was at 10% and my portable charger was dead so I had to go back to the hostel instead of out to another place so I didn’t get completely lost.

Before heading home I needed food and I got lucky seeing the street all full of food trucks. So many people set up their shops to sell mostly food but also other things. I got some grinch looking icecream but very yummy matcha flavour. I also got a huge portion of noodles for $5 which filled me right up.

Back at the hostel I realized the place I wanted to go was already closed anyways. So I planned on what to do the next day and relaxed. That night they had free sake for all the guests. I found it funny it was in boxes. They also had a plum drink that’s very popular in Japan and just tastes like juice because of how sweet it is.
