(March 9th) On Saturday all of us went out to visit Shinjuku and Shibuya. First we visited the largest shrine in Shibuya called Meiji.
Afterwards, we walked down the street and found “Takeshita Street”. It’s a very popular tourist attraction and popular for locals so it becomes completely packed. It had so many shops, restaurants and cafes packed down the street. It was such a wild experience just trying to walk down the street. I did research the night before for candy shops(for friends back in Canada) and I saw this cotton candy place that looked way too good. It was such a coincidence that it was actually located on that street and I pulled everyone else into the shop. The cotton candy was bigger than my head.
Even after all the sugar, we got these amazing crepes. Mine was an apple cinnamon crepe and it was heavenly.
I also saw someone with two dogs in a baby stroller and the one even had a little pair of wings on.
We got some lunch and it was already 5pm. But that wasn’t too late for lunch because we always ate dinner around 9 or 10pm. I got to try the ramen with pork soup base which is one of their specialities.
We took many subways over to Shinjuku which was where it got even more busy with people. Hiroshi showed me the intersection that is known very well and famous for being in a movie. It was huge and the amount of people waiting at each corner to cross was insane.
It was getting late and dark so we stopped to rest at a cafe. It was such a cute, happy place and we got a seat right at the window.
We ended the night with more food. We went to another buffet style restaurant and this time they had a huge pot with half water and half broth boiling. We were given some type of meat thinly sliced which helped it cook in seconds and then you would dip it in a sauce and enjoy. It was called shabu-shabu.
They had their own waffle maker and an icecream machine so I got my fun out of it.
This was my last day in Tokyo with Hiroshi and his family. I got to say how thankful I was for them and they said theirs while we sat eating. I hope I can see them again one day either in Japan or Canada.
