I made the long trek from Netherlands to Colorado in one piece with some very expensive airport food along the way. Thankfully I was able to sleep on the plane which helped a bit.

When I was in New Zealand back in 2019 I went on a Contiki tour for the south island. I met so many amazing kind people and Hannah was one of them. It was a bit of an older crowd and we bonded because we were the younger ones, same age, and *one day apart* birthday twins. We spent a good chunk of time together in New Zealand and always talked about meeting back up again in the future. Fast forward 5 years and here we are. Life and stupid covid does get in the way for travels and trying to get together. But for this trip I thought, why not stop to see her on the way to or from South East Asia.

I arrived around 10pm at the airport, which was 30 minutes drive from Hannah’s, but she offered to come pick me up. She looked exactly how I remembered her just slightly more grown up. We tried to catch up as much as possible on the car ride home but of course there’s never enough time. When we got home she showed me to the spare bedroom, which would be my room for the next week, and then we both crashed early.

I always imagined Colorado with mountains everywhere, but apparently where Hannah lived all the mountains were on the west. So if you looked east it just looked like a normal city. The view from her house was pretty nice though.

Her mom welcomed me with open arms and was so kind. Hannah had to work the first day I was there but we made a plan to meet each other near her work when she was done.
