I had to come back during my time here. I researched a little more this time on certain food I wanted to try and some more museums(there’s plenty in Amsterdam).
I booked a time slot at the museum “Wereldmuseum” for 1:45. Once I arrived in Amsterdam I transferred trains to take me closer to the area with the museum. On my walk over I ended up walking through a market that continued down the whole street forever. I was happily surprised because I wanted to go to a market but wasn’t quite sure if I could find one. It ended up being perfect because I got to try kibbeling (just fried fish but was so fresh and seasoned well), and fresh, warm stroop waffles.
Once I arrived at the museum I didn’t realize how big it would be, it was filled with 3 floors of different topics. I ended up spending 2 hours there. Even though I had planned to see another museum today I would’ve had to cut my time short here and end up not having much time at the next place anyways.
This museum was more interesting to me anyways. The first floor was all about asking deeper questions about life and the impacts it has. The second floor included all the history about Netherlands. The third floor was split in two sections, both of them being newly added. One showcased saris and the other about martial arts.
I think I spent the most time on level 1, it was what caught my eye the most when researching.
This next video was quite funny but showcased just how different cultures celebrate things.
Next up was floor 2. The history section I would say was done very well. I only say this because it was able to keep me interested almost all the way through the section.

After finishing the second floor I headed up to the last floor. I think I was pretty tired mentally at this point and just passed through the last sections. They were very interesting and had such variety but I couldn’t keep up with pictures of everything. Take my word that they had beautiful displays of saris that showcased more traditional looks and more casual everyday looks. The other section covered so many different martial arts and how they are not only good for fitness but keeping tradition alive.
After my time here, it was pretty much dinner time so time to search for food!

Someone told me that Netherlands had really good hummus, so I stuck with that assumption and found a restaurant known for their hummus dishes. I got the one with falafel on top and it was absolutely delicious, especially with a nice beer. I actually ended up meeting another fellow traveller while sitting in. I had not met anyone new in the Netherlands since it’s not the same type of backpacking culture as south east Asia.

This time around the weather was much nicer to me and it didn’t rain. I did a lot of Oo and awe’s at buildings while walking around, and grabbed some icecream to end the day out.
(Think someone left their bike outside a little too long.)

As much as I wish I could stay and see Amsterdams night life, there were many reasons I couldn’t. For starters, for my parent’s sanity, keeping in mind about my safety, and the weather. It was still bright out around 8pm but I figured that was a good time to call it and head to the train station to make my way home.
