For me this was a travel day. I got up around 8:30 so I would have time to grab breakfast and my laundry and then also pack everything up.

I was convinced to take a bus and then a train to get from Nong Khiaw to Vang Vieng. Or else I would have had to take a bus for 8 hours and on bad roads. I didn’t mind that but figured a different experience would be nice. Unfortunately, the train station was super strict with luggage and I had to throw out some aerosols. Pretty annoying since Laos has been such a laid back country but because the train station was supported financially by China, they made the station feel like I was in China, with crazy security. To top off the annoying experience, the train ended up being delayed for a couple hours due to bad rain.

I had plans to meet up with the whole family from Pai as well, so I was a little late due to the train delays. I got to Vang Vieng, checked into my hostel which is where mostly everyone else was staying, and made my way to the bar they were at. It was such a lovely time catching up with everyone again. Ended the night with a “Laos sandwich”, that’s what I call them because there was 10 stands in a row on the road selling the exact same sandwich menu.
