Today was pretty calm compared to the previous day full of swimming and dancing. I met up with Mary, Blenda, and Tony at a french restaurant for lunch. It was pretty good. Afterwards we walked around the town just shopping with our eyes.
Tony and I both wanted to make Jewelry, so we booked a time slot at a well known shop. The appointment was around 3 pm so we had to start walking there 20 minutes prior. As we were leaving, 4 girls were getting off a tuk tuk and I realized they were from Pai as well! I was so excited to see them and they were staying at the same hostel I was. I told them I would see them at the family dinner tonight. After that, Tony and I continued across the river and we had to go on the tiny little pedestrian sidewalk on the bridge. Not scary at all.. It started to spit, then rain, and just as we arrived, start to pour.
We got settled in after picking out our designs we wanted to make and the rocks/stones to use. I chose to make a necklace and a ring. It was a peaceful area overlooking the river. Half way through it started the pour again, and so much that it was blowing sideways into the room. They had coverings to help block the rain thankfully. Once we finished up I was very happy with my pieces I made. The ring I made matched my other jade ring perfectly. It came to maybe $20 for the class and jewelry!
To kill some time we went to a restaurant the shop owners recommended and had some tea. Kachow.
To get back to the hostel for the family dinner we wanted to catch a boat across the river to save time walking. We ended up hiking down a hill and down some old stairs to the river. We had no idea where we were or when the boat would come. A bunch of other people slowly also came down the hill, both local and tourists. We waited awhile, around 20 minutes, and decided it might just be better to walk back incase the boat never comes. We made it back just in time for the dinner to start. They had a whole buffet to help yourself.
I spent the night hanging out in the hostel common room with everyone. Eating, playing cards, and some goodbyes were to be had. Blenda and Mary were making their way south and I was going North with others the next day. We weren’t sure if we were going to see each other again which was sad.
