I planned to stay about 3 nights in Bangkok. It wasn’t a place I wanted to stay long because it’s more of a big city and it wasn’t the vibe I was going for. But, I feel like if you go to Thailand you have to at least go to Bangkok. I arrived quite late from the sleeper bus and got all checked into my hostel. The days I spent there, they had a heat warning and it was around 40 degrees. It felt hotter than the beaches in the south. My first day I wandered around the block close to my hostel in search for some good food and oh boy did I find some. I stopped in this little shop that felt more like a home renovated into a dine in area. There was a dish called, Khao Soi, that I really wanted to try because it was specifically a northern Thai dish. I think this was the best Khao Soi I had on my travels, it was absolutely divine.

I had ideas and places I wanted to go to in Bangkok, but it was unbelievably hot midday, to the point just standing outside was getting unbearable. I ended up back at my hostel to sit down and relax in the common room with some other people.

Later that night I decided to go out when it cooled down slightly. Khao San road is known for its crazy nightlife and a must visit if you’re in Bangkok. So naturally I went there. The street just beside it was also packed with food vendors, so I stopped there first to get some dinner. Got some pad Thai, of course, and tried alligator(basically just really chewy chicken, not my favourite).

Khao San road was absolutely crazy. So many bars/clubs, blasting their music. Walking down the road there were vendors and people working at the bars trying to get you to come in. It’s funny though because being a girl there you get less attention than the men. There were a lot of ladyboys working trying to pull guys into the club, very different to Canada.
