Dalat in the morning was a nice walk before it got too hot. I got to my hostel bright and early and fell in love with it. When I booked it they explained they were not a luxurious hostel and very basic but strive to create a great atmosphere. I felt that immediately, I got a coffee and instantly started meeting new people. Plus, they had the comfiest beds I had so far on the trip, it was heaven.
But just look at the view from my hostels common room.😍
I came that day with no plans, and ended up with a full day which consisted of a coffee shop, the alpine roller-coaster, a family style dinner, and a pub crawl the hostel hosted. The coffee shop was something I dream of, mostly because it was a small jungle.
Next stop was the alpine rollercoaster. It’s basically a little cart you can control with brakes as you go down a mountain. No pictures/videos allowed though, but the views were really pretty. The only problem is it wasn’t only a tourist attraction but locals loved it. It was crazy busy because me and Jake, who I met that morning, made the mistake of going at 1. I love meeting new people and hearing the differences in how they live. He was from London, but lives in Australia/travels around when he can. He also collects quotes from people he’s met travelling and told me to think of one. I randomly remembered both my mom and grandma saying once “life’s a bitch, and then you die”. It was funny because he said everyone else had such deep or positive quotes and then there was mine.😅 But you know, it’s good to mix it up. Anyways, at the bottom of the hill there was a little area to walk around with a waterfall and we stayed there for a bit before heading back to the hostel.
We headed back to the hostel after, and signed up for the family dinner. It’s a very cute idea and helped everyone get to know eachother more.
After the family dinner, mostly everyone signed up for the pub crawl, and stayed in the common room mingling. There was pool, beer pong, and some dancing going on, it was all good vibes. The one bar that people told me I needed to visit in Dalat was called “The Maze” and that was actually our first stop. I was honestly shocked and amazed at how they constructed the place. I was not expecting a literal maze. Probably not the besttt idea to have a bar full of drunk people here but it’s a fun concept.😅 I just loved exploring and getting lost, it wasn’t too hard to find my way back.
