(May 21st) I finally made it! Christchurch was my final destination for solo travelling, after that it was with a big group. I had two days in Christchurch before my 9 day tour of the south island was going to start.

I picked a hostel around the heart of Christchurch and it also intrigued me because the price of a room included freshly baked bread for breakfast every morning! It was so good and actually exceeded my expectations( it was warm and fluffy and there was plenty to go around). When I arrived at my hostel I was staying in a mixed dorm with 6 people. I chatted with the few that were in there at the time and hit it off with a guy who was visiting from France. He was so nice and offered me to join him and one of his friends to go explore the town the next day because I said I had nothing planned to do here.

The next morning we got ready to go out and started walking around town. We stopped for coffee to wait for his friend before going to the botanical gardens.

It was really fun having some company but I already realized how nice it is to travel solo because of the fact that you can just do what you want and don’t have to listen to what other people want to do. We didn’t even get to see the botanical gardens because we just walked around the huge park and left after awhile. It was beautiful but I did want to see the botanical gardens so that was a bummer. We ended up walking around Christchurch to look for anything to do or a place to stop and eat. We ended up at a random building that had a few little shops in it. There was a little hangout area in the hallway that had a puzzle out. I ended up just sitting there and started doing the puzzle. The other two ended up joining me and we all got so into it. We celebrated every puzzle piece that we put together. It was so simple but such a lovely time and I just felt so happy sitting there working on a puzzle with two people I just met. Before the sun went down we said our goodbyes and headed back to the hostel to have some dinner and go to bed.
