My first few days completely flew by, but for the next week I had the kids everyday. Here is just some highlights from my days with them-

We were just inside hanging out and we started looking through all the laundry clips and talking about our favourite colours. Erin, the youngest, started to put them all over my back by clipping them to my shirt. It felt so funny and by the end we came up with the name “pegged”. She put every single one on my shirt, then after awhile she started to hit them off. It was definitely a process. We continued and I ended up doing the same to Erin and she became the pegged one.

Another day, we took the train out to a second hand bookstore. Just the journey with all of them was pretty fun. By the time we got back I asked if they wanted to get icecream but they were all tired out and only Erin wanted to go. Thankfully, their dad, Wayne was home doing some work and Erin and I were allowed to go by ourselves. She was such a funny person I think we stood at the icecream section for 30 minutes comparing the types and flavours. We had to pick something that had enough for all 6 people and was a good flavour. We ended up with rolo and it was a hit.

One day we went out to the City to visit City Hall. I had no idea that we were meeting up with Lydie and Baptiste (who left a few days after I arrived in Sandgate) but it was a great surprise. We went to see a free concert of a swing group playing. The three kids had already visited City Hall and went up the clock tower but they wanted to do it again. Unfortunately there were so many school groups there and all the tickets were sold out. We had some lunch we made and went to the museum instead that had a section for kids to create stuff.

The next day we went out to the city again but this time to go swimming. We went to a man made beach, played many games, and went to a park afterwards. I couldn’t believe but for dinner we had man in a boat, or as they called it, toad in a hole. It made me feel like I was at home and also a kid again. We also made some cards for people and I did a little art as well.
