I had no idea what I was going in to see this day. Since Sakoda owns his own rafting and outdoor company he needs to make sure people know what they’re doing and be prepared for anything. The second day I was there I was shown a disaster drill. They set up for so long and then there were ambulances, police, a helicopter, and many people in the water. I was with Asami and another lady and we drove around trying to get footage of the event.
Another crazy thing was that Sakoda offered me a car to drive while I was staying with him. I got my own car to explore with and it felt so good to not have to rely on other people or take public transportation. I was free to roam around and drive anywhere.
After the drill was done a group of us went for lunch. Some knew very good English so it was nice to have a conversation and I got to see them again while in Hitoyoshi.
