My first official day I had nothing planned out and Hiroshi invited me to come to lunch to visit one of his friends. His friends daughter is friends with his daughter so that’s how they met. I was surprised how well her English was too but turns out she was an airplane attendant so she needed to know japanese and some English. She was so sweet and welcomed me to Japan right away.  Apparently she really wanted to meet me because she heard about my travels from Hiroshi.

We had a very yummy lunch and a good conversation. I showed her some pictures from the devil pool and white water rafting in Zambia and she had the best reaction. She was so shocked and when I said my parents were a bit freaked out at first she said she felt the same way. At the end of lunch she even brought me a little gift. I wish I could’ve seen her again before I left Tokyo but unfortunately I didn’t.

Afterwards, Hiroshi just showed me around the neighbourhood and the train station to get a sense of where I was.
